THE FALLEN ANGEL OF CAMPDEVÀNOL

VIRAL CAMPAIGN
Viral videos, web design, making-of

A viral campaign included in the blog www.fallenwings.org for the international campaign "Diesel Heaven," created by Hi-res with photographs by Terry Richardson. Diesel Barcelona commissioned us to create a paranormal viral piece, and different artists from around the world created viral content that fueled the blog. The common thread between the stories was a pair of angel wings.

THE STORY
Fake Investigators

The protagonists, David Resplandí (designer and director) and Gerard García (photographer), played the roles of two amateurs investigating paranormal events in the video. During the months of pre-production, they kept the reason for their secretive meetings on the outskirts of the town and the long nights spent locked in the studio a complete secret. Their families believed they were immersed in shady affairs...

BROADCASTING FROM THE OTHER SIDE
The Psychoimages

It is ironic that contacting the inexplicable has a simple explanation. The young men only needed a closed circuit between their video camera, computer monitor, and television... and nerves of steel to withstand the gaze of the face silently observing them from the other side of the screen.

THE SETTING
The Forest of Campdevànol

Forests, when night falls and deprives us of our senses, awaken the hidden horrors in our minds. The wooded area near Campdevànol was chosen as the location for the fateful encounter with the creature. Prior to that, the film crew had simulated a trail of guts and bloodied feathers leading to the hideout where Pere awaited, transformed into the Fallen Angel.

And they will discover, to their horror, that in the darkness of the forest, they are the intruders.

FALLEN TALENT FROM HEAVEN
Making-of

Behind the hours of filming and editing, there was no angel, not even a guardian angel, but talent. For the creation of our creature, we relied on expert science fiction makeup artists who transformed Pere, our actor, into the pale monstrosity that sends shivers down the spine both in front of and behind the camera.

BEYOND THE VIRAL
Media Impact

Even the creators didn't imagine that the fake documentary for the Diesel brand would have such a huge impact. It was one of the first viral videos on the emerging YouTube, made national and international headlines, received praise from horror film celebrities like Jaume Balagueró, and was even featured on Iker Jiménez's show, Cuarto Milenio.

However, its greatest achievement was getting the scientific community and internet users hooked. Shortly after publishing the forest video along with a fictional website, the creators received constant waves of emails from paranormal associations, specialists, and enthusiasts interested in the unusual
footage. Some requested interviews to hear the investigators' story firsthand. Others, eminent figures from foreign universities, asked for permission to conduct an official investigation. To this day, the Angel of Campdevànol continues to generate the same question - and terror - online: reality or fiction?
